Marlene Barrett

Marlene has been a receptionist at Animal Hospital of Livermore since 2009.

She was born and raised in Livermore, CA and Hawaii.

She has always been an animal lover and loved reading all of the James Herriot novels as a teenager which sparked an interest in veterinary medicine in the mid 1990’s.  she went to work on an Arabian horse ranch part time in exchange for riding lessons, which turned into a full time position where she and her husband moved onto the ranch and she worked as an assistant barn manager.  When the ranch was sold she went to work for an equine vet and then moved on to a small animal practice in 1999.

You will find her at the front desk greeting clients and pets, answering phones and handing out treats.

Marlene shares her home with 2 kitties, Jazzy and Jessy (sisters) who she adopted when they came in to be spayed at a hospital she worked at.  It was love at first sight and they gave her older kitty, Jaime (who was missing her companion Mitzie, who had passed away) a new lease on life and perked her up in her last few years.

In her spare time, she enjoys going to concerts, movies, gardening and serving on the production team at her church where she loves playing with the big cameras.
