Dr. Bonnington

Dr. Bonnington was born and raised in the San Francisco East Bay Area. After high school he started his college career at St. Mary’s College where he played sports before moving on to UCD (University of California, Davis). He has a BS in Zoology from UC Davis (having graduated with highest honors and Phi Kappi Phi). His next four years of college were also spent at UC Davis, where he earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. Dr. Bonnington spent 7 years in private practice in San Jose and Los Gatos, CA and moved to the Tri-Valley area and becoming a Livermore Veterinarian  in 1990.

Dr. Bonnington chose a Livermore animal hospital as his next career destination because he has always been drawn to the unique beauty and attributes of the Livermore Valley. Dr. Bonnington has been the owner of Animal Hospital of Livermore since 1990.

Dr. Bonnington has known since childhood that a career working with animals was his future. As a child he owned dogs, cats, birds, snakes and other small exotic pets. Choosing a career in Veterinary Medicine has allowed Dr. Bonnington to pursue his passion working with animals.

Dr. Bonnington and Jan make their home in Livermore with their three cats Riley, Mariah and O’Malley. His hobbies include mountain climbing, golf and traveling. He has visited more than 32 countries in the world.
